What is Harmony One?
The Harmony team is comprised of seven Google/Apple/Amazon engineers and two PhDs based in Silicon Valley. Harmony raised $18M from global investors in 2018 and will launch our mainnet in mid 2019.
Harmony One is a fast and secure blockchain, designed to scale trust for billions of people to create a radically fair economy. Harmony features a revolutionarily high-throughput, low-latency, and low-fee consensus platform, designed to power decentralized economies of the future. The main goal of Harmony is to deliver unprecedented scalability and decentralization. Well begin with gaming and trading, and our bigger vision is a decentralized AI marketplace to democratize machine learning.

Consensus Protocol

Our consensus protocol uses design principles such as full and secure sharding, including pipelining to parallelize transaction processing. That means our network is optimized to scale from the networking layer up, and it means were different from transaction-sharding projects like Zilliqa. Harmony is a PoS (proof of stake) network that will be secured by hundreds of thousands of decentralized nodes.

How is Harmony different from other blockchains?
We are not just thinking about solving for throughput performance (transactions per second), but we also care about the number of nodes that participate in the decentralized blockchain network.
We are taking a full stack approach of applying 10x innovations in networking, systems, and algorithms. We are implementing full and secure sharding, meaning that we will be sharding transaction verification, state storage, and communication.
What is Harmonys roadmap?

We launched our public Devnet in December, which will be upgraded to our testnet and followed by a mainnet launch in mid-2019. Harmony will begin with EVM support, providing backwards compatibility to allow teams to port their existing projects over from Ethereum to Harmony. In the long term we are betting on WASM.
Heres our roadmap and recent newsletter. Our latest whitepaper is due by the end of the January, and you can dive deeper on our forum. Stay tuned for bounties and updates!
